Years visited: 1979-2014 - The main town on the french Riviera has seen more glorious in the past and seems to lag behind in many aspects of modern french town designs but has its special character on the Promenade des Anglais, stretching from the airport to the old town. Because ever rising car traffic suffocated even the Promenade, in 2007 a bikepath is built, there will be more trains running between Antibes and Nice and a tramway extends into the Paillon valley. West of Nice you can get a little California feeling when working in Sohia Antipolis, sort of local Silicon Valley. Helas, even if you find a place to work here, the prices for a flat or house also strangely ressemble those in the US Silicon Valley.
Nice - Nizza
Besucht in den Jahren: 1979-2014 - Die Hauptstadt der französischen Riviera nebst angrenzenden Seealpen hat ihre glorreichen Jahre schon lange hinter sich. Etwas von dem Zauber ist an manchen Stellen der langen Promenade des Anglais noch vorhanden. Im Westen schließt sich moderne französische Erholungs und Industrielandschaft an, in Sophia Antipolis kommt sogar ein wenig California Feeling auf. Nizza selbst ist am besten mit der Bahn zu besuchen, denn auch am Sonntag sind die Straßen voller chaotischem Autoverkehr. An der Promenade des Anglais wird eine Fahrbahn in einen Radweg umgebaut, und im Tal des Paillon fährt seit Ende 2007 eine Straßenbahn in Richtung .. Autobahn. Apropos Bahn, der Bahnhof ist leider etwas weit vom Strand, so widmen Sie sich besser gleich der Innenstadt und finden schöne Strände am Bahnhof von Juan Les Pins, St Raphael, oder Villefranche sur Mer.
